09 UPLANDER Gas Guage Problems

I have experienced on several occasions a problem whereas the van will not start when parked in a downhill position. Tank has no less than 1/4 tank, but it reads empty. 1st time I called towing thinking I had run out of gas. 2nd time I knew better, but still could not get it started. For me there is no 3rd time. I went to the dealer today and ....It seems that GM thinks that I should park my van uphill so that the gas guage will not read empty, and then it should start. As a female I take offense with this and I should not have to park uphill for the guage to work properly. Anyone else having this issue, and what if any is the solution. Thank you, CJ

Yes, read about 5 threads down..... Van won't start.
If you are going to park on hilly terrain, be sure there is plenty of fuel in the tank. It's the nature of the beast.

Just like pappa bear said.....make sure there is fuel in the tank if you plan on parking nosedown. Either park the other way around, or keep more fuel in the tank.
The problem is that the tank is so long, when you park on an angle, all the fuel goes to one side. there is no fix and don't take offence to what you've been told, its the truth.
My van does it to me in my driveway if I park with an 1/8th tank or less.

So what is the cutoff at least 3/8 of a tank remaining?

Actually depends on how steep the hill is that you are parked on.
Take a long skinny vessel that is half full of liquid and start tipping it .... won't be long until one end is dry.
