2008 Chevy Uplander tranny problem

My 2008 Uplander just started to rev up while driving. It will not drive in D, 3, or 2 but it will in 1 and R. What could be the problem other than rebuilding or replacing it.

I had the same problem. $3,600 later, I have a new transmission with a 3 year parts and labour warranty. Sigh...

Well, I am in Canada and I did get a three year warranty... It still sucks. :@

How many miles (Kms) were on the transmission when it failed?
Had the transmission been serviced? (new fluid and filter)
What failed/broke in the transmission?

1200 for a new trans is pretty cheap. You must have connections. I could not buy a new one at trade price and install it myself for that price.

And 4 of us posters are in different parts of the great white north.

to the op... hard to diagnose with the limited information you provided. Is the fluid level ok. Is the fluid brown and burned smelling? Maybe you lost the forward clutch? For $1200 in Quebec, you can get a new one!

oh man, wow. then i got a fantastic deal... nope no connections at all.!!!! maybe because i live in metro area!! lots of competition! I thought 1200 was expensive. lol

Thanks to Papa Bear for putting me onto rockauto.com. I saw some remanufactured trans assemblies for my car for $2000 Canadian; which is still a great price.
