Blend door actuator ?
When it gets real cold I get sometimes only get cold air. I think that the blend door is sticking or the actuator is going bad. I almost afraid to ask ! but how do you get to the blend door and actuator?
Thanks Joe B |
what year? single zone or dual zone? Are both of the heater hoses hot?

OOPs, sorry, forgot that important info... the Uplander is a 2005 with single zone heater. The heater is back to working fine. The only time I seem to have a problem is when it gets real cold, like the other day when it got down to zero... then It's blowing only outside air. Since it works OK otherwise i'm thinking that the actuator is OK and the problem is that when real cold the housing ( plastic I guess?) shrinks and binds the blend door. In any case I need to get in there and check it out.

Actuator Recalibration
When replacing the HVAC control module, it will be necessary to allow the HVAC control module to perform a calibration process. When installing the HVAC control module, be sure to perform the following: Important: Do not adjust any controls on the HVAC control module while the HVAC control module is self-calibrating. If interrupted, improper HVAC performance will result.

Hello, would a 2004 Chevy Tahoe use this same HVAC control module calibration?
Alternate Method (w/o Scan Tool) Clear all DTCs. Place the ignition switch to the OFF position. Connect all previously disconnected components. With the Mode knob in the PANEL position, press and hold the AC button for 5 seconds. Rotate the Mode knob fully counterclockwise. Rotate the Mode knob fully clockwise. Rotate the Mode knob fully counterclockwise. Release the AC button. Wait 40 seconds for the HVAC control module to self-calibrate. Start the vehicle. Verify that no DTCs have set as current DTCs. |
