Upgrading factory stereo?
Has anyone upgraded the factory stereos in the Upanders? Any issues with losing chimes or anything else? I've always done my own custom stereo work but don't have time to fool with the Uplander and would rather let someone else have the headache this time around. Just curious if anyone had any input since I'm new to Chevy's period.

Take a look at this kit http://cgi.ebay.ca/CHEVY-Single-din-...item5d2dac3684. You need something like this to install standard DIN stereo.

Does your Uplander have On-Star ? I don't think that replacing a radio in newer computer controlled vehicles is as straight-forward as it used to be.
You may be better off to install a stand alone under the dash. YMMV. |
Well to retain factory chimes I need a PAC interface unit but since I'll be adding 2 amps from my previous van, a dedicated speaker will have to be run as well for the chimes since we'll be bypassing the stock setup that integrates the radio and chimes....a major pain and aggravating expense but better than the stock setup.
It's not bad for OEM but I hate the way it cuts bass as you turn it up, sounds terrible when you turn it up but not half bad if the volume is fairly low... |
any updates on the radio install niceguy? I want to upgrade the deck, I bought better 6.5", maybe a little amp to push them?

Sorry too much going on right now....hopefully I'll get it done in July since it seems the factory radio's AUX input has dropped a channel. Very annoying to listen to lol...
I'll update when I get it done though... |
