Uplander "Reduced Engine Power"
 

Have an engine light on and display is saying "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". Anyone know if it safe to drive to a mechanic?

Check your owners manual and I am sure it will have what the display message means and whether it is safe to drive to the dealership. Or call your dealership for assistance.

Update on my prior reply; I got to thinking that perhaps your vehicle is used and doesn't have a owner's manual.
I checked my manual for a 2005 Uplander and it says that with the message display on the Driver Information Center [DIC] of 'reduced engine power' can happen when their is excessive use of the traction control, like when your vehicle is stuck in ice or snow.
You can clear this message by pressing any one of the DIC buttons for two seconds. If you have an ongoing problem the display will persist.
If you have an Check Engine Light as well, it could be a more involved problem. It would be best to see a tech at your nearest dealership as soon as possible. Call the dealership first to see if it is okay to drive the vehicle to their location.

Did you ever resolve your engine power reduced issue, if so, what was the solution? I have the same problem with my 2006 Chevy Impala LS 3500 V-2.6. The message dispalyed and the check engine ICON appeared

I have a 2005 Uplander. Check Engine Light, Reduced Power and actual reduced power. When it's cold, it's ok, but when it warms up, lookout! Off of stop there is very little power and the RPM's gradually spool up and once it finally gets to 3500 RPM it breaks free so to speak and goes balls to the wall. On hills I have had it stopped and go nowhere and had to turn the ignition off and start again to get it up the hill. I had a mechanic check it out and we ended up replacing the Throttle Pedal Sensor and then the Throttle body Sensor. His next step is go for a harness. I am leery of this and was wondering if anyone had a similiar problem and how they fixed it. I'm desparate, I don't feel safe having the other half drive it.

I am having the same issues and when advanced auto plugged in the code reader they could not get any reading and told me what i thought it might be which is the bcm (body control module) under the back seat behind the drivers seat is where it is normally located and its plugged into the fuse box. You might have to have it flashed or buy a new one and have that flashed to your vehicle. If you buy a new one the only way to get it to work with car is to have a certified mechanic or somebody who knows what they are doing flash the new one to your vehicle or your it wont even start

having the same problem autozone put code on and said it was a fuel sensor, or gas regulator or the fuel pump which I would have to replace the whole fuel pump anyway I will be driving and then it loses power especially when it is hot and it quits on me

I have a 2006 Chevy Uplander, 3.5, 6 cylinder, I changed the fuel pump on my vehicle because it wouldn't start (hard to start) and it still wouldn't start, but we found out that the BMC that sits in the floor behind the drivers seat electrical connectors were corroded and some of the connectors were broken off, so we cut the connectors off and joined all the wires to the same colors with some electrical tape, and it crunk right up, but now the gas pedal is not working, and i get a message that says reduced engine power, and a check engine light, can someone please help me with this!!!

Reduced engine power and Traction Control/ABS messages
 

I have a 2009 Uplander and it is at the dealer right now. I have had the Reduced Engine Power message appear several times and also the Service Traction and Service ABS messages intermittently. They all seemed to resolve but over the past few days I have not been able to get rid of the Reduced Engine Power and have not been driving the car. I had it towed to the dealer and now they can't replicate the problem. Are there any solutions to this issue?
I will be going on a long highway drive next month and I don't feel safe at all in this car.
