Brake light fail; dim light works tho

I've got a 2003 or 2004 Venture. The driver's side brake light does not go on, but the running light does work. By that I mean the dim light does light up when the headlights are active; stepping on the brake, it does not light up bright the way the passenger side does. We're worried about getting a ticket from the police so we want to fix this.

I changed the bulb, which has two filaments but the socket and bulb both appeared to have just two connections so I'm not sure where the problem is. Is it the bulb? The backing plane where the bulb inserts into? The wiring? The electrical connection?

I seek any and all advice. Thanks!

David

Check This ! !

I have an 89 Chevy pickup and one tail light was giving me the same problem. I did all you did and it did not solve the problem. So I took the light fixture out completely as I put it back together, I made sure it had a good ground. That fixed it.
Good Luck,
Derl :)
