2018 Chevrolet Traverse

New Looks, New Engine Options and a lot More Luxury Come to Chevrolet’s Popular SUV

The Chevrolet Traverse is a favorite machine among brand enthusiasts, but in the greater sales scheme it falls behind the competition. Chevrolet looks to change that with the all-new 2018 Chevy Traverse. In an attempt to make the new Traverse more practical, more fuel efficient and more luxurious than ever, Chevrolet has revamped this three-row from back to front and then back again. From the outside there is new design that is bold, aggressive and squared off. It takes more than few ideas from the truck lineup to great effect.

That new body is larger than the last generation model in almost every dimension with a two-inch wheelbase stretch, .6-inch increase in overall length and a height boost of .8-inches. That equals more interior space for more comfortable passengers. And Chevy says the new Traverse has more legroom in the third-row than anyone else in the segment. Despite that increased size, the engineering team worked to cut weight and the new Traverse carries almost 600 fewer pounds than the old model.

Under the hood buyers will find a new version of the 3.6L V6. Power ratings are not finalized but GM is quoting 305 horsepower and 260 pound-ft of torque with a highway fuel-economy rating of 25 mpg. A new RS model joins the lineup to bring some performance to the party and it comes equipped with a new 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder. GM says this motor is good for 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both engines come mated to a Hydra-Matic nine-speed automatic transmission.

Matching the sporty engine of the RS Traverse, you also get some extra visual upgrades. Black exterior accents, a black grille and 20-inch wheels all combine to make the RS look more aggressive than the other Traverse models. If you prefer refinement over speed, Chevy is expanding the High Country name to include the new Traverse. That means exclusive leather treatments with suede accents, 20-inch polished wheels, exclusive Advanced AWD and power-folding third row seats.
