Default 2003 Z71 Speedometer

I recently got a 2003 Silverado and of course the speedometer doesn't work. I didn't think much of the issue and ordered a new set of stepper motors the same day I bought the vehicle. After replacing the motors the speedometer still doesn't work. The speed sensor itself is fine, we could read the speed from the sensor when it was driven with a scanner attached. Anyone have an idea of what to look for next? Thanks.

Does the odometer still count miles when the vehicle is moving?

Ok - if you replaced speedometer stepper motor, go back and check your work. The circuit traces are very thin leading from the stepper motor, some folks damage the traces or do not solder sufficiently. Does the speedo gauge do anything when started? - It should fall down past 0 and then rise slightly. If it is glitchy or moves around erratically - you probably have damaged a trace or bad soldering. Also check that the needle is not pressed on so far that the backplate is interfering with it.
