Just purchased a 2008 avalanche ltz with the 2007 navigation system cd/mp3/ rear camera.

Want to play DVD's on the front navigation screen (note: the factory install nav system does not have the DVD logo/lable on it) ... what do I have to do to get a nav. system that plays DVD's on the front system? Is there a gm factory nav system that plays dvd's on the front system or is this only an aftermarket unit?

Thnx

Yes, part number end with 66. Do a search and you will find all you need in this forum.
You need a lock pick to play while in motion.

I am trying to get a lockpick group buy together for a discount.

If you are thinking of buying one see my post in the Tahoe forum...Earl

I understand your trouble. I did a good bit of research before buying mine as the DVD feature is important to me. There were two different ways to get Nav on an LTZ. if you got the PCJ package (Sun & entertainment, or something like that) that also included the rear entertainment system, then yes you can play DVD's on it.

If the Nav system was a standalone option, as well as the camera, etc each being a separate option, then no you cannot play DVD's on it.

If you look closely at the brochure (if you have one) and go to the back where it has all of the options, you will notice two different Nav systems. one says something like Nav / CD / MP3, etc... The other says Nav / CD / DVD / MP3......

Hope this helps.

The rear entertainment package gives you the the ability to play DVDs in the front. and watch in Front when parked and rear anytime.

I have a 2008 with nav and rear entertainment. I can see dvd's while in park on the front screen, but shift into drive and the screen gets locked out . how can you see the dvds while driving? I know it is a safety issue, but for the passenger to see a movie. Is there a way? Thanks.
