Has anyone heard what the Camaro price tag will be? Will it be a higher end car under the vette or will every Highschool kid get one? LOL will it offer a V8? or just a super charged v6.

I hope its at least 28k base!!

They will have to keep it sub forty or no one will buy it.

Yeah, if they go above the Corvette's price, I don't think they'll sell too well. I'm going to buy one, but that's only because I'm a Camaro fan.

I have heard if you take 500.00 to your chevrolet dealer they will get you on the pre-order list. I am going today to see if this is true or not.

could have saved you the trip.....I know we wont, considering the plant is not even geared up to build them, and we have no idea what $$ will be, I have heard 20-25 for the V6 and upper 30s for V8, as for what V8 not sure Im guessing hte 6.0 or 6.2, seeing as how the new vette is pushing over 650hp with the new 7L, they should up the 6.2 to the camaro, as well the new G8 is getting the 6.0 and close to 400hp the camaro has to surpass that.....

Well believe it or not the dealer let me put a refundable 500.00 down to be on a pre order list. This has nothing to do with chevy just good faith with when they order and can.I appreciate the knowledge on the possible specs. Im pretty sure Chevrolet released that it will use the 6.0 and have a v6 option. Loaded I fouond out will be 34k unless you get into special orders etc.

take your word for it on the deposit part, but that will be a dealer thing, any dealer will take your money if you want to give it to them, be curious to see in 2 YEARS if you actually get it back if they dont get your car, as for pricing where did you get this as dealer principles dont even know what it will be yet?? since you cant build pre order, see options, available engines, wheels, tires, etc...

I see oyur in realestate, think about it for a sec, would you take my money and guarantee me a price on a house that is not even built yet, and wont be for 2 years.....lots of things can change by then...

I agree with the price range that you have previously stated. The GM trainers/reps. and training material tell me that the Camaro will have the 5.3 SS engine from the Impala/ Monte. The G8 has got a weak 6.0 because of the gas guzzler tax, GM is NOT going to import any vehihcle with over 400 h.p. Nor will they have anything produced that will out perform their bread and butter 'vette. Don't get me wrong, I think it'll knock the Mustang out of contention right out the gate.

back in 99-00 my dad put down 4 deposits at 4 dealer ships ($500 ea) for the 03 SSr's, since there wasnt a msrp decided upon yet, in the contract it listed the price as "MSRP" so when they came out here (in florida) for $65+ he had 4 for i think $43-45 (not all first year) and one dealership decided not to honor it, and shipped his deposit back, (it was some georgia dealership) he didn't accept it, and had his lawyers talk to their, basically they ended up settling for giving him the cost of what they were selling it for, minus the msrp, so it was like $65-45 so he got a $20k settlement, and sold the other 2 for $65, so dealerships will take your money, but someone will try to give it back if theyre trying to sell it for a gross amount over msrp

(also, i guess its worthy to note that before signing the contracts to msrp he told them we had an employee discount from a family member, so they accepted msrp 2-3 years in advance rather than employee discount)

I've heard of dealerships that will "demo" popular vehicles untill their considered "used", and then mark them up so as to avoid msrp. Don't know how true it is, just what I've heard.

There's deff a V8 option... I need to break out my old Hot Rod Magazine but I think it's power is around 600HP? Don't quote me, I'll need to get the mag from work, I left it there. Far as price I think it also said somewhere around $30,000. There was a poll awhile back at hotrodDOTcom that let you tell Chevrolet what you'd like to see on the new Camaro.

About a week ago I put my name on a list to buy the new Camaro but no money was ever mentioned, I am glad I live in Alaska because there will be more "power" options availabe, my guess is the camaro will just top out whatever else is coming out but will be available as the V6 or hi powered V8, I think it will come out as early as next summer. my only dilemma is that I have almost always seen that the first year of a new production run is the worst year to buy unless you keep it parked all the time, second year or later most bugs are worked out. If the cost goes over 40K I may just skip it and look at the Vette. I would just like a street driveable muscle car that runs on regular, has the sound, the looks but I do not ever intend to race it or show off at stop lights, after all I am 50, I have a bit more respect for good equipment.I may heavily mod mine later but it would be creative engineering on my part as I used to build show cars.

Thats why I believe the price will be below 40K for that exact reason

I'm also thinking about getting one when I get back from my adventure in the sand. I won't be back till 09 so I will be back just in time to find out what bugs that thing has before I run out and give GM my money. I need something sexier than my little Kia hatchback. I may just get a used Z06.

Guess I just got lucky then as had a new 2002 TrailBlazer and now a new 2007 Tahoe and haven't had a lick of trouble with them. :)

I have seen dealerships just put a "high demand" mark up on the dealer sticker. I have seen as high as $5k.

It had best be comparable to the mustang price range.

I mean the reps themselves have stated a few times that it is going to be a high volume car at various showcases.

EvansBlue

It will have to be in the 22-35k range or else people will just buy a Corvette for the price.

What are you referring to?

Probably heated steering wheel, seats, and shift knob.

Maddog78
03-12-2008, 04:39 PM
and those aren't available outside of Alaska?
I was just curious, it seems he thought there would be Alaska specific options? [sm=dontgetit.gif]

Maybe he was referring to engine block heater or something like that. But I always thought if it was offered you can order it no matter where you live. I live in Phoenix and believe it or not I have actually seen vehicles on the lot out here with heated mirrors and seats?? If you want to pay for it GM will let you.

Maddog78
03-13-2008, 05:59 PM
Yeah, I'd agree.
If it's offered you should be able to get it anywhere.

If so I might just see about getting one.

yea the v6 camaros will not be supercharged and will be probabaly a little more expensive as the new v6 mustangs ....but the v8 will be a small block 400 and be priced higher...

EvansBlue
06-04-2008, 11:01 AM
No one will buy a smallblock 400 with gas prices like they are. I reckon chevy made a mistake if thats true.

I wouldn't mind getting a V6 myself in a couple years...

The engines that will be available in the Camaro are: turbo 2.4L I-4 as a base, a V-6 for the mid-class, the SS gets a 6.2L LS2, and the Z28 will get a version of the Corvette ZR1 LS9 tuned to around 575hp from what I've read in recent magazine issues...

A 400 cube small block would be an unjustifiable decision based on fuel economy projections, gas prices, and global "engine downsizing". Also, just to throw some new info out there, Chevy's next gen V-8 is rumored to be a 4.5L small block tuned to around 350hp. I'll believe it when i see it though. I highly doubt the LS-series engine will be canceled...

well mr. james just went completely off subject here
but if chevy want to help gm and get sales up they will find a way to sell it for the mid 20's
you know good and well it doesnt cost 35k to make one
theyre just greedy over profit
some people may say that they need profit to keep going
but if they made less profit and sold more cars, it would be equal
that there is the problem with our economy, the greediness of companys
gm used to sell cars that were loaded for 28k
now thats a base model
