Default Installing Mudflaps

I was just wondering, I installed Husky Mudflaps on my new 09 Avalanche this last week. The dealer was going to cost over $150 to do two of them so I spent $40 and did it myself. Im mechanically inclined but working on a vehicle is a little different for me. With these you only have to drill two extra holes in the wheel well. One is on the metal flange in the wheel well, and the other is through the plastic lining. Here is my question, After drilling and installing the sheet metal screw through the sheet metal on the flange is there anything I need to do to prevent rust after installing the mudflaps? Do dealers do anything extra or do they just drill and screw it in and call it a day?

Thanks!

Hi Avalanche09,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

One trick I do is to use a little paint or adhesive pooled in the threads of the screws. It helps to cover the baremetal caused by the drilling, and also to act as a lockwasher.
