2003 Cavalier Speaker Replacement
Hey guys,
I have a 2 Door 2003 Cavalier that I'm looking to put new speakers into. I recently bought an aftermarket pioneer head unit, that is 50watt x 4 Max output. I'm looking to upgrade the speakers now, but i don't understand the whole Minimum/RMS and Maximum wattage business. If i bought 3-Way Pioneer speakers for the front and back with a RMS of 50Watts and a Peak of 200Watts, would they work with my aftermarket head unit without causing damage? If they don't could you explain why and what wattage of speakers i could use and not blow my head unit.
Thanks

Speaker watts do not overload your amplifier. It is the resistance which must be no less than allowed. For instance, if an amplifier can power 4 ohm speakers then you need to get 4 ohm speakers. Less than 4 will overload the amplifier, more than 4 will reduce available power output.

Thank you very much! I've been waiting a couple days for a solution but now i can finally order my speakers. So If i get Alpine Type-S Speakers that are rated at 4Ohms with my Pioneer DEH-1200MP deck they will work?
Thanks
Thanks
