Default water injection to clean engine

Have you injected water into the air intake to clean your van engine?

Do you know of or have you heard of any reasons other than hydraulic lock that this should not be done on the Chevy Express van?

Looking under the hood it looks like I would need to remove the air filter and mist water into the air intake; or create an operable hole in the air path after the air filter.

Is there another option?

I'd NOT do that. I think the intention is to raise the compression to a point it will knock off carbon.

Old school. Works sometimes. Trick is to increase idle speed and pour the water in very slowly. Use modern chemicals for most likely better results as you really need a carb so that you can adjust engine speed as you pour the water stream The above poster is correct in that the water method was used to help reduce carbon, but it was the temp difference between the hot carbon and the water that was the idea behind it.

to the op; You need to clean the comb chamber why? what are you trying to fix by doing this?

bad idea ,it's a old trick they used to increase milage and keep the engine clean .bad for a ol;der engine especially . it will clean the carbon out of the ring grove's ,thus reliving the tentioin holding the ring's out and sealing the cylinder's decreasing the compression and oil control .
i know from experence on a high milage engine after a while it started burning oil greatly !.

Remember that this was originally done with engines that had heated intake manifolds. I'm not sure its still worth the risk on today's fuel injected engines that don't have manifold heat.
