i got it running!!
Yep im a newbie hope i dont post this in the wrong place so..
I have a 81 chevy k3500 it came with a tired 7.4l with a quadra junk on it. I ran it for a while and it through a rod. I wasnt surprised.
So i bought a 92' 7.4l with tbi i installed it and wired it up and it wont run. I have checked and rechecked everything and it will not run!!! the injectors are not firing at all i have spark i have fuel pressure and have checked all of the sensors twice and three times over. I have replace the spark module in the distributor also.
I am starting to think that the computer is the wrong one i have a k2500 with a 89 350 with tbi and i swapped the computer and the one i got for the 7.4 will run the 350 and my comp for the 350 still wont run the 7.4!! gah!!! I need to know how to figure out which computer i need. I called the dealer and all they want is a vin well i dont have one so they wont help me.
I talked to a couple ecu rebuilding companies and they wont help me without a vin either i researched and found at least four different computers from 88-93' but apparently no one has enough gumpsion to tell me which one will (or might) work for it.
Please!!! anyone with little more than a shot in the dark HELP!!

gm dealer told me i need ecu part # 88999164 and it doesnt cross reference to anything!!!!!

i got it running!!! no i didnt figure out the maze of crap with the ecu's and no one could tell me anything so i said F*** it and got a 89 chevy astrovan wiring harness that was for the v6 (friend pulled it off a junked van) and wired it acordingly most everything was already there just had to swap a wire or two to get the right wires powered first try vroooom!! i was extatic as was my buddy that was helping me for the last week and a half. gah! now all i need is some exhaust work and to hook up the o2 sensor so it doesnt run so rich. but i can say i have a 81' chevy k3500 with a 93 tbi 7.4 powered with a astrovan v6 harness. its a one off!!! just doubled the price of it lol
