Default What kind of junk is GM selling these days?

2007 Malibu LS 4cyl. $17,900.00 and in less than 53,000 well kept miles I get a bad cam chain tensioner, a clogged exhaust from the cat coming apart, broken visor mirror 3 times, various vibrations and rattles, radio that wouldn't eject CD, display on radio goes out every now and then, now I have the auto headlight sensor fall out of the dash because the plastic frame of the dash is breaking apart. They also tell me to stop using the oil change meter on the info center, That its inacurate. Why is it there then? He said to make sure I change the oil no longer than every 5000 miles, well duh, I never let it go that long, 3500 at most using olny Mobil 1 clean 5000. So he says change to synthetic oil, if I change my oil every 3000-3500 should conventional oil hurt anything? I wouldn't think so. Is this how we build cars that the price is going up up up on?

If you bought it new, you should have returned it to the dealer, alot of states have lemon laws. I too at 53 have been a GM man all my life, but next new car I buy will be a Ford for those reasons.

I have owned two Fords over the years (both bought new) and am not impressed. Also, a colleague of mine had a late model Explorer that spent so much time in the service department that he got to know practically everyone in that place by first name. He finally got rid of it after one of the mechanics told him what they call Explorers among themselves ("Exploders"). I don't dare mention Ford around him.

Not to band wagon but maybe prospective, my brothers 98 F150 with nearly a quarter million miles on it is still running good, my good friends Explorer... 2003 with about 100k has been a money pit or nearly one, ranging from interior actuators failing for the AC to mechanical failures....
my 97 Tahoe, had it 11 years 120k miles other then 2 transmissions, one I paid for, it was a top, my 07 Tahoe so far has been great...

its no particular manufacturer, although i will agree with the explorer/escape not being a winner. Spend time around independent shops and theres plenty of variety between manufacturers. Not to mention once in a while you might be the unlucky person to own a lemon. If everything in life worked out perfect it wouldn't be any fun.
