You have to pull the rear seat(bottom & back) to get at them. Pull the seat out, take off both C pillar covers, remove the rear parcel shelf and the speakers are right there. Just undo the clip and they're out

Remove the rear speaker by depressing the tab and lifting the speaker straight out.

Youare right, the c pillar covers are the plastic pieces at the rear window. There is a small access tab you remove with a small screwdriver to get at the bolt holding them on. See the pic

If you want to try to do the job without removing the seats, its up to you...I have done it before. Its really tight but do-able.
Fold down the seat back and remove the 2 10mm bolts near the seat latches and pull the seat back as far as you can....using a pry tool, pull out the push pins holding the rear parcel shelf cover to the body. lift the cover up and pull it out and you can access the speakers.

Thanks again, I've kept this car in mint condition and didn't want to damage it installing the speakers. The fact. 6x9's don't have any tweeters at all so the Infinity's should be a good upgrade. Now to find a hole in the firewall so I can hook up an amp..
