Unhappy having trouble getting my 1989 s-10 to start

i recently replaced the serpentine belt and battery but it won't start. it ran before the belt broke, but now refuses to start. can anyone help?

Will it crank over ? You can here the starter ? Last does it try to fire at all ?

it was trying to turn over, but would stop after a few seconds. i could hear the starter trying but now i try to turn it over and nothing happens. no clicking of the starter. nothing...

Suggest having battery charged fully, sounds like battery is almost dead at this point

And it's a new battery?Are the cable ends corroded? Did you clean the cable ends ?If not do so and make sure they are tight on the battery.Yes the battery needs to be fully charged to.By chance did you try to jump it?

I'm thinking that without the alternator charging because the belt broke, it run the battery completely dead just like the guy with the long username said above.

why did the belt break? Do you have a seized component that is belt driven preventing the motor from turning?

i bought a new battery for it. nothing. i'm in the process of changing the starter.

ok. so i changed the starter but it still won't start. it cranks over but just won't start. any ideas?
