I have a 07 Malibu LS, 3.5L. The car has been great until now. About a month ago I started getting a "power steering" alarm but nothing was wrong. The alarm never went away, it would "ding" every few minutes but there didn't seem to be a problem. That went on for about a week but then the power steering actually started going out. As soon as I turn the car on there is no power steering, sometimes it will click on after a few seconds and work until I turn the car off again, sometimes is takes thirty minutes. When it does click on...it actually clicks. I can hear a clicking noise from down in the steering column. From my research, it sounds like its the Power Steering Contol Module to me but I'm not sure. Is this something I can do with a manual and a weekend or do I need to spend the 1500 at the dealership? Any ideas? Thanks.
