I picked up an 89 S-10 off a friend of mine to haul around my dirtbike. This thing leaks oil like crazy, and most of it appears to be comming from the back of the motor by the valve cover. What is the easiest way to remove the valve cover? I read that there is a "special" tool for this, is it required? thanks.

its a big thing bc its a straight 4.. real pain in the ass just pull off the PCV valve take off the spark plug wires make sure you label them, take off hte EGR valve, then the vacuum rail near the intake manifold and water outlet then you should be able to get to the valve cover bolts, and about that special tool i recommend it but stick a flathead in there but be careful that you dont bendthe flangeand if it gets stuck on the head get a piece of wood and a hammer to knock it loose any other questions just let me know
