1990 Z71 Silverado 5.7L timing
I have a 90 z71 5.7L 350. The fan shroud has been replaced and no owners manual. I need to set the timing but cannot find the specs anywhere. Any ideas?

your in luck, i have the exact same truck. to set the timing, theres a black cover on the passenger side in the engine bay. pull that cover and there's a wire you disconnect while the truck is running. cant recall the color of the wire at the moment. with that disconnected, set the timing and tighten the distributor bolt. let it run for about 2 minutes after that. then you should be good to go.

it should be at idle while setting the timing. and after you set it, hit the gas a couple times and maybe sit on it for 5 seconds or so and see what the timing does.

Hey I got the timing set and had it idling pretty good for a bit. I shut it off and had a heater hose on the top manifold by the distributor spray all over. What mine looks like and the hose in the picture in my Haynes are way diff. I am trying to post a pic for you to see if yours looks the same or if someone screwed something up.

is that really a pic of your truck? is it that rusted and dirty? if so, if you bumped it just enough you could have broken a part of it causing it to spray. either way, id probably get a new fitting and hose and change them out.
