Default 1992 Chevy brake issue

Okay so I just got my 1992 Chevy short bed regular cab 4x4, it's powered by a 454. Okay well problem I'm having is that when I start the truck from being cold an push hard on the brakes it locks up the drums going from drive to reverse it will make a loud click noise and free up. I believe when I was driving down the road the breaks locked up and broke the front u-joint. Also the brake light is on and I've checked the switch on the parking brake lever but when I unplug it the light stays on, where are sensors located by the brake resevsor? I would appreciate any advice anyones got thanks.
