Default 1995 Z-71 A/C Question

Maybe I am watching it too much, but my 1995 Z-71 does not seem to cool consistently. For example, this morning on my way to work, I set the A/C on, pushed button for recirculation, and fan speed on second from low. The outside temp was 64 degrees. I stuck a thermometer in the center vent to watch the temperature.

On my way down a country road at 35 miles per hour for five miles, the temp dropped to 29 degrees out the center vent. I merged onto the highway and at 65 mph, the temp out the vent went up to 35 degrees. All the way to work (30 miles), the temp stayed in the below 40 degree range.

After work, the outside temp is now 87 degrees, same as above on the A/C settings, except the fan is on high. The temp out the center vent would not drop down below 53 degrees driving on the highway at 65 mph for 25 miles.

I get on my country road driving 35 mph for the last five miles and the temp drops from 53 degrees to 48 degrees by the time I parked in the garage.

Am I expecting too much, or is there an issue here? I would appreciate any help on this, including getting "schooled" on auto A/C systems.

Thanks,
David

Well remember a ac conditions the air and not instant cool but you should feel cooler with in 5-10 min
Best best got to advance auto get a kit with black light and die fill ac run and turn lights out look for a leak
You can fill with ac stuff with stop leak but it may or maynot work
There is a ac clutch can go out or the pump or condenser

I dont see a problem. 53 degrees is cold on an 87 degree ambient temp. day. Sounds fine so far.
