I realize that it is risky making a vehicle purchase based on emotion. But after years of grinding practicality in the welding business. I took a chance on Chevrolet. I was attracted to the bulldog styling of the short bed regular cab and the Taupe Gray Metallic paint, like the look of the late 1960's Chevy short bed, something I could not afford when I was a teenager. The look of the Chevy is what brought me to the dealership. And the base model features of the WT; mechanical windows and seat adjustment, simplest transmission (4 speed automatic is all CA has to offer but I prefer a manual transmission), not a lot of buttons and gadgets, its what I prefer. The 4.3L V6 is a proven engine that I have witnessed turn plus 200K miles repeatedly from fellow trade workers who bought the S-10 and Chevy half ton pick ups for their businesses. And it is cleanly mounted in the engine compartment, ease of maintenance comes to mind.

Yes, it had an oil leak from the pan gasket, warranty covered. And I dislike the mismatched style of drive train component mounting. One size fits all engineering genius, it looks desperate and mismatched usually leads to malfunction. But I keep it safe and park away from people as much as possible, avoid the door dings. And I hope to get many years out of the truck and maybe give it to my grandson.
