ok so i bought a 2014 silverado 4 door 1500 ran into driveline issues from the day i brought it home. i own a 4x4 fabrication and driveline shop for the past 20 years, so what i noticed the 1st time i went on the highway was a driveline vibration that drones in and out at 50mph and up. also what i notice is from 50mph down under deceleration is a rear end howing that goes away with some input from the gas pedal. i have been building rear ends for 20 years and this noise is common of excessive backlash. well i called the dealer told them about the 2 problems and i brought it in for a test drive. but what i did notice is i put the truck in the air and ran it in gear the rear driveshaft had about 1/4" runout. the yokes spin true but the center of the driveshaft wobbles. they replaced the shaft same vibration i put it in the air myself and the 2nd drivehaft is out of round also.. i looked into a lot of the new silverados and seems that the only ones that have a steel rear driveshaft is the 4 door short bed? the rear end noise they are telling me is the t case whine and its normal i call bs on that. i just had a 2015 d max in my shop alum rear shaft also had a 2014 1500 with a alum rear shaft but its the short 4door truck? anyone run into this vibration and notice if they have a steel or alum rear shaft?

OK,

So today is 01/19/2015 the info they requested was there on 01/05/2015
as requested !

Today I called just to find out after spending more then 10min on hold
then that I'd be called back in 5min that was in reality more then an hour
that I'd have 'THEIR' proposal in an E-Mail in an hour
I do have other things to do, so after four hours I checked my E-Mail
and NOTHING from GM

Called them just to find out that my case has to go to another level
not exactly what I was told this morning

GM HAS DRAWN FIRST BLOOD !

Until now I've allowed them to go through their procedure's and given them everything
they have asked for on 01/05/2015 ! So with today's events GM has made it very clear
to me that my 30k + I have in MY 2014 K-1500 I purchased in good faith that they have
acknowledged is beyond any repair is clearly NOT A PRIORITY to them. It's a fairly
easy case as I have A LIEN FREE & CLEAR TITLE and yet they have chosen to purposely
insult my intelligence by their excuses and lack of accountability

Default Understand your sufferings.........

Dear Desert SS:

I totally understand and sorry for your sufferings and frustrations. Just to give you a heads up things. Yes, same scenario for me for the past 2 weeks, yet things are progressing. Hang in there! I was promised that all was to be finalized last week, but I have found out that it will still take 10-15 days prior to all is over. I am in your boat with waiting for that e-mail of proposal to be made. Good luck and I hope things will be taken care of very soon.

remove the drive shaft and with the engine off tow the truck to the speed where the problems happens. if it goes away it is in the power train and then start the engine ,put the trans in gear and see what is felt.

Anything the dealership cant or dont want to fix, they call normal. I find it hard to understand why all these service personnel cannot feel a vibration or hear a noise in my vehicle when I have no problem doing either, even though I have hearing aids. I have a 2014 and it has some faults, but nothing like the vibration my 2003 truck had. I put 31 tires on that truck, changed wheels, even sets of 4 tires and wheels off a new truck, none of it worked. Had it in a frame/drive shaft shop. Changed the brake rotors upgraded the shocks. It wasnt until a friend bought a 2005 that did the same thing, that we learned the problem. He put 200 miles on it, took it to the dealer and told them when it ran smooth call him. He was refunded his full purchase price including sales tax, and was told it was the composition of the motor, and body mounts that was transferring the vibration. The dealer stated that GM would not acknowledge this to the public, because of the mass number of vehicle that would be affected. The cost would have been prohibitive for a recall. As Paul Harvey used to say, "thats the rest of the story". Larry in western Ky.

Ajutzi and Ebel27,
I found your post from a few months ago, what, if anything was discovered about the vibration in your new trucks? I am curious to know the results of the finding or what line of bull did they tell you. I will watch for any post on this vibration issue.

Default resonation/vibration

My 2014 Silverado when new had a squealing noise
at exactly 60MPH. It sounded like it came from the
rear of the truck. As usual the dealer shows to interest
or even knows how to find the problem. That noise disappeared
and was replaced by one that has a low pitched fluttering sound
w/a very slight in cab resonation. This occurs at 58-60 MPH
then above 60 it goes away. This sound goes away when you let
off the gas, which makes me think its an exhaust noise. I mentioned it
this morning while getting an oil change, but got no comment from
the service writer.
This is the 6th new truck since 93. Of these 6 I have had
vibration/noise issues w/3 of them. When I mention it at a dealer,
1, they have never heard of such a thing
2. If you get a tech to drive it, they cant feel or hear anything
3. Or they just stare at you and shrug their shoulders as they walk away.

I'm 68 yrs old, my family never owned a non Chevrolet vehicle. I
currently own a Town car, the only Non Chevrolet product in my life.
When its time for a new Truck, if I am still here to reach that point,
GM will not get another dollar from me. I'm just a slow learner. Larry
