Default vibration

I also have a vibration in my 2013 chevy. Did brakes, alignment and road force balance. Only thing left is the drivetrain. Maybe we can get chevy to*replace them.

2014 Silverado had vibration right front . Dealer rebalanced wheel and it took 12 weights. A little of vibration went away. After 6 months the 20's had filiform corrosion showing. Dealer got wheels warranteed and replaced all with remount of my original Continentals (less than 10K miles). New wheels on now with only 2 to 4 weights on each wheel.....all vibration gone ! Couldn't be happier. Dealer told me if wheels corrode again bring back and get new ones again...until 36/36K runs out !

Shimmying and Shaking Chevrolet Trucks and SUVs

If you've gone for a drive in your late model Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban, GMC Yukon or Yukon XL, or Cadillac Escalade or Escalade ESV, and experienced an odd shaking and/or buffeting noise, you are not alone.

My 2015 Silverado Crew Cab does the same shake routine and has about 3000 miles on the odometer. It seems to be predominantly within 15 - 20 minutes of drive time from cold to warmup and at around 75 mph. I've tried inching cruise up and down 1 mph at a time, allowing 20 seconds or so for each new speed to settle in. There isn't any magic speed number, only that it seems to occur worse at between 70 and 80. It does occur at other more legal speeds but with less intensity. Once I get beyond the 20 minute mark, there is a gradual reduction of vibration amplitude, though it does not smooth out completely. The weather in the NE hasn't really hit full-on cold yet so I'm anticipating worsening of the shake problem under winter conditions. I definitely know when it's happening if I have anything in the center console/arm rest as it will rattle and I am not looking forward to turning my (currently) quiet cabin into a rattle trap from the loosening of all those plastic parts due to vibration fatigue. If I routinely drove with my right arm on the rest, it'd drive me nuts!
I've read the posts from guys who have gone the gamut with their respective dealerships. It's apparent that GM is hoping for a magic band aid to emerge from their dealer's service department's trial and errors. You can't convince me that this wasn't known and fully understood during new model development and track testing. You don't need a nest of accelerometers to detect this one...incredible!

I have a moaning, grinding, creaking, clunking, or clicking noise from the rear end under the bed more towards the left side. Can be heard over the radio and sounds like something is mechanically binding or rubbing. The truck only has 290 miles on it and sounds horrible. Also there are two bags of spare parts that were left off inside the truck from the dealer upgrades installation. Is this standard practice? I really like the truck but so far very dissatisfied with dealerships professionalism and handling of such issues. I have always been a Chevy person but really starting to turn me away. I have read all the online forums about this similar issue and addressed it before I bought the truck. The dealership reassured me that all of those had been corrected and would not have to bring that truck back for anything but services. Like I said I love the truck but begging to get it fixed and running correctly as it should. Contact me anytime please so we may reach a resolution fast.

Default Solve this Problem

I have a 2005 4-door Duramax long box and quite like this truck. Very good tow vehicle with 150K miles and very few issues. My son has a 2013 Silverado 1500 extended cab short box with this vibration issue. He, too, has had his vehicle at our local dealership repeatedly with the non-fix that many of the other folks on this forum are experiencing. As I am retired and have more time to research the problem, I came across this forum thread and have read through all 17 pages (to date) on this topic, as well as several other postings. I see this thread has been active since 2013, and the only folks that are sure they have this issue behind them are those that are now driving Ford, Ram, or Toyota. Admittedly, there are a very few others that seem to have the issue solved, with fingers crossed. For most, however, multiple trips to the dealerships have resulted in multiple days/weeks of lost use for the vehicles, with no solution.
From my own engineering background, and past work with several international companies, I agree with other forum members that are sure that GM is aware of the problem, knows what to do to fix, but is not issuing a recall or telling the dealers how to solve, to avoid an expensive recall for a design defect.
Since this is the only site where is appears that someone at GM, or contracted to GM, is monitoring, I decided to jump on this thread. I find it disturbing that GM management seems to be taking a "hands-off" approach to the problem, in this day of very active social media and active Forums on the internet. It would seem that they are risking the company to save bucks in the short term. Likely has to do with a golden parachute.
It appears that my best advise for my son is to deal with this problem by going to the dealerships across the street from Chevy.
I can only hope that there are upward communication pathways at GM, and that the GM employees/contractors that are obviously monitoring the forums will send this thread upward to GM top management. The top managers at GM either need to put on their parachutes and bail, or they need to act responsibly to their customers. Which is it to be?

Hello All

Wish I would have read this forum before buying my 2013 3500 Diesel Dually used. Im trying to track down and fix the Chevy Shake. Before I spend any more money, has there been a resolution to this issue?

Had 3 different places road force balance the tires. The latest found 3 "bad" tires and said that both left read rims were bent. Bought 3 new tires, road forced ballooned, and bought 2 new rims. As you might guess, the problem is still there. Feels like a wobble at low speeds and feels like an out of balance tire at 70-80MPH.

Any new news on this issue?

Default Torque converter delamination

After having been to three different GM dealerships in the area and receiving no help to solve the vibration, we took the 2013 Silverado 1500 to an independent transmission specialist. He was able to show that the problem with this vehicle is that the torque converter is slipping. He also found a GM service bulletin that indicates that GM knows about a delamination problem with these torque converters. Since the dealers need to get GM to agree that there is a problem that should be repaired under the warranty, the dealers just provide creative excuses but will not admit to even noting the problem unless there is a service code (effectively a check engine light) triggered that their computers will indicate; and therefore that they can transmit to GM. Until the transmission and/or torque converter fails to the extent that it triggers a code, the owner gets the GM runaround. The code will not be triggered until the slippage is more than X rpm (I believe it has to be more than 400 RPM) that continues for more than 10 seconds. In this case the slippage was more that the required RPM, but did not continue for the full 10 seconds. It vibrates or shakes as the slippage comes and goes, but did not trigger a code. Thus, absolutely no help from GM or the dealers.

Final result is that this truck is not longer in the household, and a Toyota Tundra is now providing excellent service at it's replacement. GM has lost a few customers.

Relative to the Diesel 3500 dually, I doubt that this issue is the same. The diesels have the Allison Transmission, and likely a different torque converter, so I doubt that the torque converter delamination issue that is prevalent on the 1500,s; is also an issue with the 3500,s.

Hello All-

Alright, this is my very first post since I feel I have to get wrapped up in this conversation !!

I just recently sold my 2005 GMC sierra 1500 with the plans to buy a newer GMC sierra or Silverado 2500. The majority of what I have been looking for has been in a low mileage 2014-2015 range and had my mind pretty much set on Chevrolet/GMC until I just recently took a low mileage 2014 Silverado 2500 for a test drive from a local dealer and witnessed a bad vibration around 50-65 mph. I originally just figured it would be a simple fix and was considering buying it until I did some research and read the last 17 pages of horror stories with the 2014"s and some 2015's. This was a shocker and now really has me wondering what to do for my next purchase since I cannot imagine driving on a highway with this continuous or intermittent vibration, especially if it is an item that I may fight for years to correct. It shook the steering wheel a good 1/2" back and forth and was very annoying, not to mention the $30-$40,000 price tag to go with it. It seemed to go away at different speeds but I was unable to get it to stop whether or not I ran tow/haul mode or fluctuated RPM.

My questions-

Any idea what percentage of the 2014's out there have this issue. Do I continue to shop for one in hope to find one without this issue?

Sounds like 2015 has the same issue but not nearly as many?

I have been reading pages and pages on this topic on multiple sites and believe I read very few complaints about the 2013's or older. I would like to stick with Chevy and was just wondering if I am safe if I shop for a 2012 or 2013?

Thanks in advance for the help

Default Inquiring resolution

I recently just purchased one of these issued trucks. I felt like I was getting a great deal on the truck but I quickly learned why. I bought it from an independent owner and now not sure what route to take. I have seen some resolutions so far but has anyone thoroughly tested the resolutions to determine which one is the most viable fix?

Thank you!
