Default 4 wheel problem

i just bought a 2005 silverado z71 and they push button 4x4 switch panel has no power going to it from what i can tell, no lights come on at all, only had the truck a week...common problem?

not too sure on the 2000+ but on an older one that'd be your 4wd seliniod most likely

oh ok, yea im new to all this, i had it plugged in to see if it threw any codes, and nothing showed

Do you have a service 4wd? My 2000 had an issue with the switch itself.

nope nothing at all...no service lights, no codes, could is be a sensor or fuse not transmitting signal to computer?

You can not scan the transfer case computer which a generic code reader. You can only scan the powertrain. Most auto part stores can not scan it either.

very true. i would check fuses, and if all are good, trace wiring, looking for breaks, shorts. could be too that the lights on switch itself aren't working.
