If you have the supplies, you can make a heat sheild from sheet metal.
Its relatively easy. Use cardboard to make a template, cut, mount, bingo.

Yeah I am actually drawing one up on autocad right now! I was thinking I run a CNC laser and have acess to all kinds of metal why not cut one!!!

Yea maybe get a K&N clamp on filter once that one gets dirty, thats what I am going to do soon, I got one of those spectre filters, good flow & cleanable but dirt can eventually get past them because thier so thin.

They make a sleeve I believe to that slips over the filter.
