Default EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) Question (1975 Chevy 454)

My brother and I just bought this truck from our family. It used to belong to our late grandfather. It's a 1975 Chevrolet Silverardo C20 (Camper Special) 7.4L 454 Big Block. We're looking at replacing/upgrading our carburetor and intake manifold. We're looking at an Edelbrock 750 CFM carb (model number is 1411). There are two intake manifolds; one has an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and one doesn't.

A couple of questions:

1- Will the Edelbrock 750 CFM Carb (model 1411) be appropriate for our engine?

2- Which intake manifold do we need? The model number with an EGR (model 3761) or the one without it (model 2161)?

3- Is there anything else we need to order to do this job correctly? Intake bolts (part # 8564)? Gasket (part # 7203)? Etc?

4- Does the stock manifold for our engine have an EGR?

5- Any other advice?

Thanks,

Shane

70s big block should have egr valve in manifold in front of carb or throttle body; If you look on craigslist you can usually find used aluminum intakes for $50 or so. It doesn't matter if round or rect. ports since that engine prob has the peanut port heads. A quadrajet carb rebuilt be someone who really knows what he is doing still works grest and gets better milage that a holley.

i have a 70s 454 in my blazer. i put an edelbrock performer RPM air gap intake on with the thunder series 800 cfm edelbrock carb and a set of headers...totally different engine! runs great and does alright on fuel. oh, and no EGR!!! and use the edelbrock intake bolts also, found it much easier to torque the intake down with the smaller head bolts that edelbrock offers.
