Question Overheating causing injector failure?

Can overheating boil over result in injector failure ?

My service center says this is common.

Replaced wires plugs etc and they want to check injectors next.

I have never heard of such nonsense. (anything is possible though). I assume it was severely overheated and now does not run correctly.

Thanks for replies

It boiled over and lost about 2 qts of antifreeze it was cooled off and filled up but ran bad. I think it might have been a stuck thermostat.

Its missing and running rough. They changed the rotor, plug wires.plugs and no difference. $600 . Now they want me to go to another shop which has code reader to check injectors.

It sounds like nonsense to me too is why i was asking

The problem is I think they are taking me for a ride.

Will try and watch to see what codes they get

At this point I do not think they know what they are doing. Sounds like you blew the head gasket. Did they test it with a CO tester?

if you overheat a motor you can do a number of things to cause it to not run right, injectors, distributor (if equipped) plugs, wires, coil, basically anything electrical on the motor as well as mechanical damage if it was ran for a little while while overheating.

Yea, sounds like head gasket issue. Or very large air pocket in the coolant system because they didnt purge the air when they did the job last time, whatever they did. But if you lost your coolant, it overheated and now it runs rough, I agree with MD, you may have a head gasket problem. Pull your dipstick to the oil pan and look for cream.
