I agree with WABOOM. I received a letter in the mail stating that this was a recall since it was a safety issue. I got my cluster replaced for free along with my sisters 2004 tahoe at the time. I believes its on suvs and trucks in 03-06 range.

It must not have been a blanket coverage of 03-06 then. I have all the tsb's and recalls for my 05. Only mention of the cluster is a tsb stating extended coverage for failure.

My cluster went bad and I have over 70k miles on my used '05 Silverado. I found a guy that replaced all the stepper motors with upgraded units, put all new lights, and recalibrated all the guages for $70.

I have a 2005 Chevy duramax and the panel went out at just 1,000 over the recall and the dealership would not replace. Is there anything I can do other than paying for this myself?

Default 2004 Cluster

Most of those recalls are up because its past the seven years or over the miles. First my speedo went on my truck. Drove around with it like that for two years. Then my temperature gauge went as well. Me and buddy sent it in to gmgaugerepair.com and the dude had it back in 3 days for $110 and that includes return shipping through UPS ground.

Default Odometer error

The earlier replies sound similar to the problem that occurred with my 2005 Silverado today. The display shows "odometer error". Then later today the time display on the radio just decided to reset itself to 12:00am.
I have 47000 miles on my vehicle and it's still less than 7 years old, so will check with the local dealer next week to see what the problem is and get back to the forum.
Thanks for the earlier post.

Well, took my truck to the dealer and diagnosis is bad instrument cluster. However my 2005 VIN number isn't in the recall so will have to pay for repairs myself. I do have extended warranty but they want the mileage on the vehicle, guess what "odometer - error", so they now are sending out the cluster to see if the mileage can be recovered.
I did just have the truck in dealership 2 months ago for maintenance and they have recorded mileage of 47000 miles, so will continue to wait. It will take several days to be repaired apparently. Will post back when I have more information.
