OBD P0307 and Range AFM device
Greetings,
2015 Silverado LT 5.3 V8
... at 50 k the Oil Pump went (replaced by dealer under warranty) great !! at 59 k driving along and truck starts running rough, check engine and traction control ? light come on, OBD code P0307 (Cylinder 7 misfire) this was on 5/03/20 (GM says warranty expired 4//30 ... 3 days prior, but that's probably a different forum) ... So dealer says Left Bank needs to be replaced for only 2900.00, so I take it to my ASE Certified Mechanic, he agrees with dealer and does the job for 2200.00 ... truck runs great for a few days and same thing (check engine P0307) back to my guy, while checking he discovers it happens when AFM system kicks on ... Google search I decide to get the Range AFM disable device ... Truck runs like a champ, but my guy suspects and admits impossible to prove but thinks something happened when Oil Pump went and there is a nick or blemish in the block (he checked the Cam ) ... now another problem and if your using it know that it apparently stops emissions sensors from registering (Failed Inspection) if the Cylinder issue on mine were not a problem, I am guessing I could have just removed it and driven 100 miles or so to reset those, but here I am ... if I remove device, truck cant be driven ... If I leave it in I can drive for 57 more days on the Reject sticker ... GM doing pretty much nothing for me and I cant even trade it in (cant make this stuff up), so it will likely sit until I can scrape up 5 k or so for a Crate engine unless someone out there has another idea ?
For the record, daily driver, no trailer, heavy loads etc.
