I will be needing new brakes on my truck in the near future, it a silverado 1500. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it is worth the extra money to upgrade from stock to performance pads and slotted rotors, something like EBC or similar. I dont usually tow trailers but I want to be able to stop with a trailer on when I need to. Any input would be much appreciated.

What year silverado? And yes the ebc green pads are awesome. Great pads, I've got those along with some drilled/slotted rotors and they stop great.

The truck is a '99. And also are they something I can find at a local autoparts store or an I better off getting them online?

i would personaly but brakebest ceraimic on they are life time warrnaty and stop very well when pulling a heavy load that is what i use

If you really want to do some brake upgrading, then get 05+ silverado front brakes, make sure you get the ones that have drum brakes out back on a 05 model(13" dual piston instead of 12" dual piston fronts) and 05 suburban z71 rear brakes(13" dual piston instead of 12" single piston). You'll need the rotors, brake pads, and calipers/caliper brackets for both of them. These you can get at auto parts stores. Most carry loaded calipers that have the caliper/bracket/and pads in one.
