I have owned my 04 silverado 2wd base model 6 cyl 6 spd truck since it was new. This is the second set of tires i have had put on the truck and each including the factory tires has shook the truck between 57 and 63 mph, why? Could anyone help me with this puzzling issue?

Could be that your drive shaft is slightly out of balance.

On a straight road while it is vibrating put the engine in neutral and turn it off. Does the vibration go away?

yes it does continue to shake

That is typical tire vibration. By turning it off you have eliminated the load on the drive line and engine. It could also have a bad wheel. You need to have the wheels Road Forced and balanced on the Hunter 9700. Google road force and or Hunter 9700 to get more info on it.

Hey there I'm back now! I fou nd a place that does the force balancing and it still shakes. The only thing it did was narrow the speed in which it shakes. Now it is 55 thru 60. Would you have any more ideas. I am beginning to wonder if 72c10gunn might be onto something.

If it changed it that means the problem is still most likely in the tires. Did they give you print outs? What were the road force #? Did they match mount any? How often do they calibrate their machine?

Drive shafts usually only cause a vibration when there is load on them. By turning the engine off you have eliminated the load on the shaft. A drive shaft vibration would be very fast because the diameter of the shaft is small. It would also change with RPM
