Default Escalade Roof Rack Conversion

Question - have a 2007 Z71 Tahoe - want to do the Escalade roof rack conversion - do I have to get one from a 07/08 or can I use one from an earlier year model? I realize that the body styles changed with the 2007 model but wondering if those who has done this and what they have used? TIA[/align]

Default RE: Escalade Roof Rack Conversion

I'm pretty sure you have to use the 07-08 model year rack. Reason being, the vehicle's overall size changed after the previous years and the bolt holes are now in different places. I plan on doing the same conversion. I like the Esky rack better. The only drawback is that I'm going to no longer be able to mount my bicycle rack to the roof rack, whici is actually a plus because the 07 model sits higher than my 00 did and it's harder for my old a$$ to climb up there now. I'll have to settle for a hitch bike rack so that I can have the better looking roof rack.
