What's the air intake box for?
This is a 1994 GMC Suburban, 350. What the heck is this rectangular box at the air intake leading to the air cleaner for? It seems like it might restrict air flow. If so, should I replace it with a straight pipe? I wonder if it is meant to reduce the sound of the throttle body sucking air? My '88 Suburban didn't have one.
I've already removed the cold start flapper in the air cleaner snout cause it was stuck halfway shut, had to do this in the '88 also.
