Suburban Front door handle replacement - keep getting broken into
Hey everyone...
I have a 2000 suburban and I've had someone take a screwdriver to the door handles a couple times. My buddy was telling me he put the rear door handles on the front (without the key cylinder) and just uses the remote to lock and unlock.
I want to get rid of the key cylinder...that's what they keep popping.
Anyone done something similar?
Looking for ideas.
Thanks,
Mark

The problem with no key cylinders is that if anything happens to the remote, you have no way to get in. A simple dead battery in the remote gets you locked out and searching for a store to buy a battery.

If you believe it to be the lock cylinder that is getting pried open, you can leave the lock in place just disconnect the lock connecting rod inside the door...
I doubt the lock being gone will discourage the would be thief, if he knows that how he's gotten in before, the lack of the lock is not likely to stop him from trying again...I have my 97 Tahoe drivers door and rear hatch doors pried open..
