Default Disconnect Battery - Radio

We have a 07 Uplander. Will disconnecting the battery cause problems with the radio? Read sometimes the radio won't work and a code needs to be entered, which we don't have.

Can we retrieve radio code somehow ourselves while the radio works?

There is no way to retrieve the code from from the radio itself before you disconnect it. There is a chance that you won’t need the code when you reconnect the battery. If you do, there should be a white sticker in the glove box or on the console that has a 5 digit radio code posted on it. The dealership usually puts that sticker somewhere in the car. If you can’t find it, you can call the dealership and ask them where it might be. If worse comes to worst, you may just have to take your car down to the dealership and have them program it for you. I hope this helps.

The concern is when reconnecting the battery and whether or not the radio will work. Want to learn how to prevent needing the code and if there is a specific way, sequence, or amount of time to disconnect battery without affecting radio or other components.

Can a diagnostic scanner retrieve the radio code? I bought a KIWI connector for Android phone which will run diagnostics and monitor vehicle but haven't received in mail yet.

FWIW, I had to change the battery in my '07 Uplander last year as the original went dead. The van sat for 1 day with no battery in it while I had my son deliver a new one the following day. Installed new battery and everything worked just fine.

Good luck.

Default New Problem

Well, we disconnected the battery and reconnected and have a new problem.
The DVD screen now has static and can verily read it. The DVD player still shows a disk format error.
