Sweet and Lowdown: Classic Chevy a Thrilling Task Force Throwback
Modded, dropped, and sporting stunning patina; this vintage Chevy Task Force is perfect mix of old school charm and character and modern performance.
When we are looking for inspiration, we find Chevy fans always bring the heat. A perfect example would be this classic 1956 Chevy 3100 pickup. We came across this gorgeous girl, named “Maggie” on Instagram and we knew she was something special. First, we cannot resist the appeal of the Task Force generation of Chevy trucks that GM produced from 1955 to 1959. They were some of the finest designed trucks, groundbreaking, and they looked just stellar.
So, starting out with such a sweet ride, there was nowhere to go but everywhere. And with that spirit, that is exactly what Maggie’s owner Sean Teehan, aka “The Lowdown Kid,” accomplished with his enviable truck.
Task Force trucks were noted for being the first pickups to feature a wraparound windshield. Additionally, they boasted power steering and power brakes, egg-crate grille, and hidden running boards behind the door. In 1955 Chevy added a 265-cubic inch engine. The fleet had strength, great towing capacity, and looked tough as nails.
Certainly, Teehan’s ride is a departure from the Task Force rigs of the day. But we think his mods are perfect. Most impressive is how Teehan did most of the work himself. He undertook the project alongside his father, and Lucky Tramp Customs in Florida. The result is remarkable, all the custom components mesh seamlessly with the Task Force retro aesthetic.
Maggie rides low, but smooth and sweet. This, thanks to a bagged Accuair suspension with ViairCorp components.
Under the hood, she has a 383 stroker backed by a Turbo 400; a nice upgrade from stock with thundering horsepower and torque.
And this girl loves the road. She has been active at a number of truck and auto shows, including Daytona Turkey Run.
One thing that really stands out is the personality, from the whitewalls to the “Wet Paint” sign–Teehan has nailed it.
To keep up with Maggie, give her a follow in Instagram. We know we’ll be checking her out.
