Chevy Apache pickups are already amazing things to look at. Throw on some subtle custom touches, and they’re even better.

In the mid to late 1950s, GM began thinking about producing trucks with unique styling touches. This was a big step forward from the days when trucks merely emulated car styling. Trucks were beginning to come into their own, and the result of these efforts were some of the greatest looking pickups ever produced. Chiefly among them, the Chevy Apache and Cameo.

The Chevy Apache name was applied to all of the light-duty pickups to come out of Chevrolet’s “Task Force Series” division beginning in 1958. These special trucks featured quad headlights and a shorter, wider grille with incorporated parking lights. The unique hood resembles those from 1955/56 models, yet features a flat valley section in the center.

Today, there aren’t a ton of these special Chevy Apache pickups around. And certainly not many that look like this one we spotted for sale at Classic Cars, which has received the restomod treatment. The first thing that strikes you about this beautiful truck is the unique paint job. Called “Infiniti Garnet Midnight,” it can look black or deep burgundy depending on which angle you view it at. And it’s absolutely stunning.

Power for this vintage Chevy Apache comes from the tried-and-true 350/TH350 combo with an Edelbrock carb and intake. The suspension was completely gone through, with power brakes and steering lending some modern driveability. The interior of the truck is simply stunning too, with black and white houndstooth and black suede. With only 500 miles since paint and 6,000 on the drivetrain, it’s a pretty fresh build, too.

Many have tried to improve these special, beautiful Chevy trucks over the years. And many have failed. But this time, we’d say the owner truly nailed it.
