Chevy Dominates Sales Charts in Snowy Buffalo, New York

Western New York suffers from some of the worst winters in the U.S. And most of its residents choose Chevy vehicles.

As all Western New Yorkers know, few places in the U.S. suffer from horrific winter weather like, well, Western New York. Buffalo, in particular, averages nearly 100 inches of snow each year. It, along with fellow New York towns like Rochester and Syracuse, actually compete for an award known as the Golden Snowball, given to whichever upstate city manages the most snowfall each year. So as you might imagine, the type of vehicle Buffalo residents choose to drive is pretty important. And more than any other make, they choose Chevy.

According to Buffalo Business First, Edmunds data reveals that Chevy has held the top two spots in Buffalo new car sales for the last two years running. In 2017, the Equinox was #2, preceded by the Silverado. But in 2018, those two swapped places and Chevy’s mid-size SUV took the crown. A full 7.3% of new car sales in Buffalo belonged to the Equinox this past year, while the Silverado claimed 5.5%. Edmunds determined the rankings by analyzing vehicle registration data for various cities and towns across the U.S.

Altogether, Chevy models represented six of the 25 top-selling vehicles across Western New York. That was good enough for a handy first-place finish, well ahead of Jeep and its four models. Ford, on the other hand, came in a distant third with only three vehicles on the list. Dodge didn’t even make the list, save for the Ram (now a separate brand) claiming one spot.

So if you’re wondering what vehicle will get you through the winter safely, wonder no more. If Chevy trucks and SUVs are good enough for Western New Yorkers, they’re certainly good enough for us!
