Vintage GMC flatbed truck is carrying a pretty awesome rat rod at the 2022 SEMA Show.

For the most part, old Chevy trucks are far more common than their GMC counterparts, mainly because more were built back in that particular era, decades ago, back when trucks themselves were used far more for work than play or just daily driving purposes. Things have changed drastically in the ensuring years, of course, and today, we use our trucks for everything. GMC trucks are also a far more common sight as a nice, more luxury-focused alternative to models like the Silverado. Regardless, this very cool custom vintage GMC flatbed we spotted on display at SEMA is still a truly unique sight.

Sitting directly on the floor of the SEMA Show 2022, this GMC flatbed truck is clearly utilizing an air suspension underneath, which gives owners the best of all worlds – great ride quality, as well as the ability to raise or lower the vehicle as needed to clear obstacles and just simply look cool. It certainly accomplishes the latter, presenting like a fine piece of polished jewelry with fake painted patina that’s covered in a shiny clear coat.

There are far more custom touches here than we can possibly point out in a reasonable number of words, including painted chrome and trim, massive mirrors, riveted exhaust stacks, and custom crafted bits and pieces everywhere you look. There’s so much detail here that one could stare at the vintage flatbed all day and probably notice new things each and every time. But when you get done with that time consuming exercise, there’s also a pretty sweet rat rod parked on the back, too.

That low slung, massive motored, fat tired beast of a build makes for the perfect compliment to its hauler, with both sporting matching liveries and paint jobs. It’s the kind of thing that’s certain to get attention at an event like SEMA.
