Master Mechanic Outlines Why He Hates Ford Trucks

Next time your buddies who drive Ford trucks start an argument, refer back to this highly-informative video!

Ford trucks certainly have their fans, as the F-Series is the best-selling vehicle in America. But when it comes down to the nitty gritty, are Ford trucks really the best trucks? At least in the opinion of heavy equipment mechanic Rich Bosch (aka “Filthy Rich”) from Deboss Garage, the answer is no. And his reasons why come from real-life experience working on numerous Ford trucks, so you know they aren’t just baseless opinions!

For starters, Bosch doesn’t like the fact that “Ford doesn’t want me touching their things.” He says that “their stuff is designed to bring back to the dealer because Ford uses a lot of specialty tools that guys like me don’t want to buy or afford or stock.” He also mentions Dodge as a brand that prefers you take your truck to the dealership. Rich makes a great point about not buying expensive, specialty tools because they just don’t make sense for a small-time mechanic.

Bosch has worked on a ton of trucks over the years, and notes that “Ford made much better quality stuff in the square bodies, pre-1996.” For starters, Bosch notes that Ford quit labeling their fuse boxes shortly after 2000. He calls all of the Power Stroke and Triton V10 engines he’s worked on “a disaster.” He even has a buddy who, after $15,000 worth of warranty work on his Super Duty, still experienced engine issues later on.

He also points out the insanity of spending ten grand to bulletproof a Power Stroke, which most proponents vouch for. As Bosch says, nothing he’s seen “makes me want to go out and buy another Ford.” He calls these issues “stupid, idiotic problems that shouldn’t be there in the first place.” And he’s got a point. Innovation is great and all, but if it leads to constant issues, what’s the point? Guess we need to ask the millions of Ford truck owners!
