Bad News Travels Fast monster truck

Car-crushing ‘Bad News’ truck is coming to Carlisle event to battle Monster Jam competitor ‘Samson.’

Total destruction is what is planned over the span of three days at the Carlisle Truck Nationals, which promises plenty of monster truck action and car-crushing thrills at Pennsylvania’s Carlisle Fairgrounds, August 3-5. A dozen or so cars will give their lives to a pair of monster trucks slated to appear. While that’s great for attendees, it’s bad news for these sacrificial compacts. Speaking of bad news, that’s the name of one of the badass Chevy trucks, “Bad News Travels Fast,” which is set to make its Carlisle Truck Nationals debut at the August event. Also rolling into the hard-crushing action for the first time at the event is Monster Jam competitor “Samson.” And even better, these two beasts on wheels will be going up against each other in a battle of the meanest monster trucks!

Truck enthusiasts not familiar with the monster truck phenomenon have a couple of months to brush up on the kings of car crushing before they roll into Pennsylvania later this summer. To get things rolling, we put together a cheat-sheet of the top three rides that are sure to rule the Carlisle Fairgrounds during August’s Carlisle Truck Nationals.

Bad News

Bad News Travels Fast: At the heart of this monster is a Chevy truck. Bad News broke in to the Monster Truck circuit in 2004. With a 540 cubic inch Merlin under the hood, it is a force to be reckoned with. Driver and owner Brandon Derrow positioned this 1,400 horsepower beast among 16 trucks to compete in the first-event Monster JAM/FS1 Championship Series.

Samson: Monster Jam competitor Samson has roots dating back to 1980 when Samson I was designed and built. His legacy and PEI ownership and competition under PEI ownership continues today.

Virginia Giant Ride Truck: This truck lets attendees get in on the fun and go for a ride. Guests can climb aboard the iconic truck and go for a heart pounding, car crushing, no holds barred edge of their seat ride. Ride, crush, enjoy and repeat!
