Australian race shop Walkinshaw Performance takes Silverado 1500 to Valhalla with pair of Fury Pack off-road packages.

Things haven’t been so good for Australia since 2016, when Holden ceased local production. Four years later in 2020, the Holden name altogether will fade into history by 2021. However, GM recently announced a partnership with famed race shop Walkinshaw Performance to bring a few rides Down Under. Dubbed General Motors Specialty Vehicles, one of those rides will be a right-hand drive version of the C8 Corvette, according to Roadshow.

Another vehicle in the GMSV lineup? The Silverado, which Walkinshaw already plays with. Per CarScoops, the 2020 Silverado 1500 can now be sent to the shop for preparation to ride historic on the Fury Road with the Fury Pack.

And what does Walkinshaw do to ensure your Silverado will be witnessed? For starters, the 6.2-liter V8 receives some singing lessons to properly accompany the Doof Warrior’s flame-licked riffs via a new cat-back exhaust.

Then, to better traverse the badlands, a set of either 18- or 20-inch wheels are applied to the corners, depending on which version of the Fury Pack is chosen. No matter which wheels are selected, though, they’re all shod in Goodyear all-terrain rubber. A two-inch lift is added for maximum ground clearance, a great need when leading the charge across the Outback.

The only other exclusive to the Fury Pack 2 beyond the 20-inch wheels is a pair of six-piston calipers mounted upon 16-inch rotors. The pair is applied to the front axle, upping the stopping power for when things get too hairy.

Both Fury Packs are finished off with a Fury decal kit, a unique build plate, Walkinshaw tailgate badge, and a Walkinshaw gift pack. We’re not sure what’s in the gift pack, though we don’t believe a can of chrome paint is among the items.

What we also don’t know is the price to pay for such upgrades for a given Silverado 1500. However, the price may be worth it; the package was tested on an 8,700-mile lap around Australia to confirm its worthiness to carry all on the ride historic to Valhalla. No better way to ride historic, indeed.
