Silverado Sicario Attacks the Street Truck Shootout
Racing and street driving high powered pickups requires more skill than other vehicles, simply for its superleggera scooped out rear. Nelson Performance conquers this with aftermarket flair. During a recent Truck Shootout in San Antonio we caught and captured from Speed Society and cameraman Javier Padron this rowdy Chevy LS1 blown, Silver Silverado ripping up the dragstrip with style.
It sounds like the project has been in the works for sometime by the way the cameraman spoke with the owner yet it looks as complete and fit as ever. The brief banter was a fun little interview and overview of the job. I suggest not skipping just to the dragstrip bits.
The proud racer-owner explains how he started with a 5.3-liter V8 and a 6L80 gearbox, nine inch axle and then added the goodies. Party-ready track parts like Holley intake, Hoosier slicks and a turbo whipping up a current 10 lbs of boost with the caveat they are still working out the kinks.
Looks like the kinks are pretty settled to me. The way this pilot heats up the tread to then squat so smooth by hooking the tires, he moves like a champ. Listen to that turbo pump. You can tell he’s still learning how to work the V8 in the midrange RPMs to pull the most out of new turbo.
