Custom ’56 Chevrolet 3100 Stepside Houses 6.27-liter Stroker V8
Nice 1956 Chevrolet 3100 Stepside restomod houses a 6.27-liter Stroker V8 motor under its hood, producing 420 HP.
With electrification quickly taking over the world, watching custom car outfits build restomods with good old-fashioned internal combustion motors is quite refreshing. Recently YouTube channel AutotopiaLA featured a ’56 Chevy 3100 Stepside restomod which flaunts a vibrant interior. Willowbrook, California-based custom car outfit Customs by Lopez, is responsible for this breathtaking creation.
The rest mode was commissioned by the shop owner Ricardo Lopez who built the truck for his wife. The pickup started life as a 1956 Chevy 3100 Stepside and Customs by Lopez used the original chassis to build this truck. In addition to the undercarriage, even the rear subframe of the pickup truck gets components from Ridetech. Furthermore, the front-end of the pickup comes from in 1978 Chevrolet Camaro.
Under the hood of this gorgeous Chevy 3100 Stepside restomod, we find a 6.27-liter Stroker V8 motor. The fuel-injected powerplant produces 420 HP of maximum power, and a GM TH350 automatic transmission sends power to the rear wheels. Lastly, a US Radiator cooling system is responsible for the thermal management, and the stopping power comes from a Baer brake setup. The powertrain also gets headers from Hedman Performance Group, and the exhaust system comes from Mike’s Performance.
Ricardo offers his thoughts on the Chevy 3100 Stepside restomod and the motivation behind his choice of parts.
“I don’t consider myself a builder, I’m probably the face, but the real team, it’s always there behind me. So that’s the team right there right behind, every issue they’re always there and like I say it’s built to drive and most of the builds that we do, it’s built to drive and enjoy, said Ricardo. He further adds,” That’s what I love about Ridetech; they do amazing engineering with their suspensions.”
The company was able to assemble the truck in just nine months. The pickup now rides on a set of beautiful 10-spoke Budnik wheels. The restomod also ditches its original seats for a pair of Mercedes units. Even the steering wheel is a Budnik product, and the gauge cluster comes from Dakota Digital. House of Kolor gave this custom truck’s bodywork its gorgeous silver paint job.
