‘Winter Florida AutoFest’ to Host Corvettes & an American Hero
February event will include car shows, auctions, swap meets, and guest speaker Wesley Wong, a 9/11 first responder and Corvette enthusiast.
Carlisle Events is gearing up for another exciting edition of its popular annual Winter Florida AutoFest event, which is scheduled for February 22 to 24 in Lakeland. As always, the focus will be on rare, wild and unique Corvettes, Mustangs and all things automotive.
Winter AutoFest takes place at the massive Sun ‘n Fun campus with two days of collector car auction excitement. There are over 400 consignments expected to pick from. And if the late, great Burt Reynolds can put his faith in Carlisle Auctions, it’s definitely got our seal of approval!
Winter Florida AutoFest includes a trio of car events. The National Corvette Restorers Society will be welcoming Corvettes to Lakeland for their Winter Regional Meet, and the Imperial Mustangs of Polk County is set to host hundreds of Mustangs and a P51 Mustang airplane. In addition, Carlisle Events hosts a free car cruise-in. Plus, there will be vendors offering millions of pieces and parts for sale.
The special guest speaker for the 2019 edition of Winter Florida AutoFest is longtime auto enthusiast Wesley Wong, who in addition to serving on the board of the National Corvette Museum and its Motorsports Park, he is a retired, decorated FBI agent and 9/11 first responder. “Quite simply, an amazing man with impeccable credentials and a lifetime of stories, many of which tie back to his involvement with rescue and recovery on September 11, 2001,” says Carlisle Events’ producers.
One of the first on-scene during the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, Wong was famously photographed along with NYFD members carrying NYFD Chaplain Mychal Judge from the rubble. Judge is recognized as the first known victim of the attacks.
No stranger to the Corvette world, Wong first worked with Carlisle Events as part of Corvettes at Carlisle last August. As part of Winter AutoFest 2019, Wong will appear not only at private VIP functions but publicly at 9:45 a.m. on the front end of Carlisle Auctions’ second day of action, February 23, when he will be presented with a special banner from his Corvettes at Carlisle appearance.
