Straight from General Motors. Chevrolet Division:

1998 350 cubic inch/ 5.7-liter motor in 4x4 pickup.

150 PSI minimum with 20 PSI allowed between cylinders, 175 PSI is the maximum normal PSI for a new motor on a stock or properly rebuilt 5.7-liter motor.

Do a cylinder leak down test, first dry, then with some motor oil down the spark plug holes then report back to us on your results.
