Where or how do you get the codes to what is wrong with your vehicle!?🤔 I live out in the boonies! I can't get it running long enough to put it into drive. 😠Does it have to go to shop or like Auto zone?

Well a bit more information will help I mean what car? Does it have Obd1 or OBD2?

A code list is just a simple Google search away...

if its the 96 it should be obd2. autozone can read the codes or you can buy a cheap scanner from amazon or walmart for a little over $12. but if your check engine light isnt on when the truck is running then there prob wont be any codes stored.

Try spraying starter fluid into the throttle body to see if it runs longer. If it does then you have a fuel problem. Probably the fuel pump, fuel filter or fuel pressure regulator.

obd2 was mandated in all 96+ vehicles in the US. some 95s even have it.

From what you say it seems that a little more background may be necessary, please forgive me if I'm wrong.
Obd is a technology that lets a scan tool connect to your truck's computer, via a plug under the steering wheel. Obd 2 is the current standard, and it's on all Chevy trucks from '96 and up. Older trucks may have Obd 1, or nothing at all. When you (or autozone, or a mechanic) plugs in a scan tool to the plug, it'll give you error codes that can give you an idea what's wrong with your truck. Once you have the code, you can Google the fix. However, be aware that sometimes, problems may not show a code.
