Default need help 1989 Chevy C1500

i recently bought a truck off of craigslist and on the way home it slowed down then stopped and now wont start back up. i have tried a new battery, air filter, and i put 7 quarts of oil in it. i replaced the air hose and yes there is gas in it. it still wont start i am going to try to charge the battery but any other help would be helpful. it acts like it wants to turn over but then doesnt do anything much past that

It may have gas in the tank, but is it getting to the engine? Check your fuel pressure. You may have a bad fuel pump. Change the fuel filter while you are at it.

I agree with oldchevy, to start an engine you need spark, fuel, and compression. With oil you probably have compression, spark and fuel are the only two left. If it ran and then slowed to a stop, it sounds like a fuel problem and not a spark problem. Old Chevys have fuel pump problems all the time, just replaced mine in my 93.
